Our ethos is simple: Comedy is a lot more fun when you're part of a community. We want to encourage new talent from their first set to their first solo show and beyond. We want to give local performers a community to share ideas and friendship, and a network for career progression.

Coven was born of spite in 2019 in response to the question: 'if you're so sick of  all-male lineups, why don't you start your own gig?' Five years on, Coven Comedy Club is a fixture of the Belfast scene and we're only just getting started. 

​

We also hope to bring back into the fold everyone who's ever felt like comedy isn't for them. Everyone who's bored of the same jokes at the expense of the same marginalised groups. Everyone who avoids comedy gigs because they feel unwelcome or even unsafe. 

​

Our Coven Academy workshops and courses are focussed on creating a super-supportive environment, whether you're thinking about getting on stage or just want to try something new. For more experienced performers, we provide a judgement-free space to test out ideas and motivate each other. 

​

Coven Presents is our ongoing series of one-off events spotlighting outstanding  performers and giving rising stars the support they need to produce their first solo show. 

​
